FORMER race caller and radio announcer Ron Papps remains in custody at the Port Lincoln Prison after he was charged with attempted murder last Thursday.
In the Port Lincoln Magistrate's Court yesterday Magistrate Terence Forrest ordered a bail enquiry home detention report.
Mr Papps, 64, did not appear yesterday but his lawyer, Mark Semmens, is expected to make an application for bail on his behalf on Thursday.
Police have not revealed the identity of the victim but it is believed to be his wife Judy.
Mr Papps will apply for home detention bail at a house on Cranston Street, not the home he shared with his wife on Parnkalla Avenue at the marina.
Mr Papps called horse racing for more than 30 years and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 1994 for his services to racing.
He worked for the ABC, 5DN, 3UZ and 5AA.
