QANTASLINK begins operations out of Port Lincoln next Monday with most preparation work at the airport completed.
The Lower Eyre Peninsula District Council last month approved unbudgeted expenditure up to $20,000 for unforeseen requirements to get the airport ready for QantasLink flights.
Council chief executive Rod Pearson said he envisaged all work would be completed and ready for QantasLink on Monday.
Works have included extending the baggage reclaim area and changing the departure and arrival gates inside the terminal.
"The arrival gate will now be in the middle of the terminal, which was the old departure ramp," Mr Pearson said.
"While the departure gate will now be at the southern end of the terminal, which we are currently building a new ramp for."
He said this was necessary to make more room at the northern end of the terminal, where congestion is expected at the passenger check in areas.
"Qantas are funding the construction of their check-in counter which is being built at the moment," he said.
Other works have including re-marking the taxi-way and apron.
Mr Pearson said the council also endorsed unbudgeted expenditure in relation to the longer-term proposal for the airport.
"We've had to do basic things to get QantasLink up and running by next Monday, but we understand there will still be some congestion issues, which we are looking to address. Initial concept plans for future upgrading of the terminal building with the flexibility to include passenger screening in 2014 will be considered at the next council meeting."
