TODD Parker isn't dreading shaving his head, because it's all for a good cause.
This weekend Mr Parker will shear off the 80-centimetre dreadlocks he's been growing for nearly seven years, to fundraise as a Kids with Cancer "Hero".
The Kids with Cancer Foundation is an independent non-profit public benevolent organisation, with funds going toward helping the youngest sufferers of childhood cancer, from newborn babies to young teens.
The group provides direct financial assistance to families with household bills, accommodation, flights and other expenses.
Funds are also provided to children's hospitals for vital equipment along with salaries for research, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and social workers, and capital works to build new or modernise existing oncology day wards.
The independent organisation prides itself on being a "100 per cent charity", with all direct donations passed on to struggling families of kids with cancer.
No management fees, salaries or any running costs are taken from the foundation's gift account.
Donations are only used for families who are struggling financially, and have a child in one of our Australian children's hospitals being treated for childhood cancer.
Mr Parker has raised just over $600 so far, and urged locals to support the cause.
