Trial finds Walker guilty

06 Feb, 2012 11:30 PM
PORT Lincoln man William Stanley Walker received a 12 month jail sentence in the Port Lincoln Magistrate's Court on Friday in relation to a high speed pursuit with police.

Port Lincoln Police Prosecution Services Branch Officer in Charge Allen Argent said Mr Walker was found guilty at trial of driving while disqualified and engaging in police pursuit.

The offences related to a high speed chase on September 8, 2011, during which Mr Walker ran a give-way sign and reached speeds of 80kmh in 50kmh zones from Oxford Terrace to Normandy Place.

The vehicle was found abandoned with two people seen running from the vehicle.

They were apprehended nearby, but Mr Walker was not seen running from the vehicle by police.

He came to the police station a few days later but denied being the driver, however the trial found him guilty.
