Window damage a let down for school

17 Feb, 2010 11:30 PM
STAFF at Lincoln Gardens Primary School were disappointed to learn 12 windows of the school were smashed on Friday night.

The Port Lincoln Special School also had 16 windows smashed causing from $10,000 to $15,000 in damage bills for the Department for Education and Children's Services for all 28 windows.

Lincoln Gardens principal Steve Errock said it had been the first time windows were smashed since he started at the school in July and other staff said it had been the most smashed for sometime.

"The disappointing part for people is that some one would want to do it, we don't know the reasons why they would do it," Mr Errock said.

The library office, the activity building and the administration area windows and doors were smashed.

Mr Errock said he appreciated the neighbours to the school that alerted police as there could have been more damage caused.

The school usually has parents and children visit the playground area out of hours to use the facilities as there are not many like it in the Lincoln Gardens area.

Mr Errock was proud of the area and the effort people made to maintain a positive environment, he said.
