TASMAN cricketer Scott Forrest will get the chance to represent some of the best young talent in Australian cricket when he heads to United Kingdom and France later this month.
The 17-year-old is one of four South Australians chosen in the 40-man tour party for the Wanderers cricket team, which will play in eight games over three weeks against club sides from England and Wales.
Scott will line up for the Sydney based club, which picks players between the ages of 15 and 18 who play for their school, club or representative team, and gives them the chance to experience an overseas tour.
Scott was given the chance by the Wanderers through competing in State country carnivals and the BankSA Cup in Adelaide.
The Wanderers' tour includes trips to the home of cricket, Lord's, Old Trafford (stadium of Manchester United), World War I battlefields and the chance to watch Australia take on Pakistan in a twenty/20 match at Edgbaston.
The left arm bowler has played the sport since the age of 10 and said the tour would allow him to gain some experience for the future.
"I'm just hoping to do alright and see how far I can get," he said.
"I hope it will lead to something eventually and I'm still looking at career options, but while I'm at school, it's still just a sporting hobby."
Scott said his proudest achievements to date were the century he scored for Port and being selected for the under 15 State Development Squad.
Having grown up playing in the back yard against his older brother, which is probably why he ended up mainly as a bowler, Scott said the chance to go overseas would expose him to scouts for a potential career.
For now, it's all about concentrating on finishing school and hoping for that chance at the big time in the future.
