Can Charlton break the Lincoln South hoodoo?

Charlton v Lincoln South, Saturday, Poole Oval, 12.30pm. Umpire: Darren Grocke.

CHARLTON again face their demons when they take on Lincoln South, who have always risen to the occasion over the years against Charlton.

Add the fact that South have won their last five matches after losing to SES in round one, then they are favourites to win again this Saturday.

Two of Port Lincoln's premier batsman will have a big say in the eventual winner. Charlton's chances depending on Ash Gray who has made 235 runs to date from six matches, while South's depend on Steve Orchard with 285 runs so far.

For Charlton, Luke Yancic and Liam Knight have played five matches and have been major contributors, as have South's Craig Reidy and the very consistent Shaun Hancock.

South's highest score of the season was 248 against SES and Charlton's was 243 against Wayback.

While both clubs have proven they can make 200 plus competitive scores, it all comes down to who does best with the ball.

South's bowling attack has proven to be economical with a strike rate that has contributed to their five wins with Shane Stockham and Damien Critchley opening the bowling, and plenty of variety with the Sincock brothers, Nathan and Aaron, and the likes of Craig Reidy, Greg Symonds and Ben Barnes, who broke the opening partnership of SES last week.

Charlton's bowling list is very comparable to South's with Tee-Jay Martin and a revved up Liam Knight. Add Jack Shanley, Luke Yancic and the duo of Dylan Colman and Ash Gray, who collectively took four wickets for 33 runs off 14.1 overs to end Wayback's, and they look very good.

Tip: a true test of a talented bowling attack from both clubs against several of the best in-form batsman in the competition. A dropped catch, a classic run out could be the difference.

There are a lot of maybes in this match with South proving to be the most consistent. South to win.
