Tasman 10/133 lost to SES 8/135
SOUTHERN Eyre South secured the points in yet another nail-biting finish over Tasman at Ravendale on Saturday.
A superb 67 from Dustin Parker, along with valuable contributions from youngster Lochie Paech and veteran Chris McGown saw the visitors home with five overs to spare.
Earlier, Tasman set SES a modest total of 133 thanks largely to 43 from Andrew Frick and 32 from Matt Smith.
After losing the wickets of Jack Humphries and Rob Murdoch early, Jason Fauser combined with Frick to take the score along to 46 before edging a Rammers delivery to Puckridge for 17.
Smith and Frick saw the home side reach a strong position of 3/85 at drinks, before the introduction of wily veterans Rick Kavanagh and Chris McGown triggered a Tasman collapse, which saw them lose their last seven wickets for just 36 runs.
Kavanagh finished with 3/26 off his 10 overs, while O'Dea chipped in with 4/9.
Tasman needed early wickets, and young Harry Ford delivered just that, removing Kavanagh with his second delivery.
He soon had his second and third wickets as Watson and O'Dea both holed out to see SES stuttering at 4/33.
Andrew Frick had opened the bowling into the wind and, after being dispatched over the fence twice, was replaced by Dawe.
This brought an immediate response as Harry Ford was in the action again, this time taking a brilliant catch to remove Ben Smith for 12.
Things soon got worse for the Southerners as the in-form Roger Puckridge was bowled by Dawe for 10, and Tasman had a sense of victory with SES at 5/36.
However, a dogged 72-run partnership from Dustin Parker and Lochie Paech guided the visitors to within sight of victory before Paech chipped one to Dawe off the bowling of Murdoch for 10.
Debutant Reece Lindsay was well held by Frick in the slips for one, and again the momentum had swung in Tasman's favour.
Parker and McGown added 16 before Parker was run out for 67, and the game was in the balance yet again with nine runs or two wickets required for victory.
However, it was Chris McGown and Troy Dunn who guided SES to victory, remaining 12 not out and one not out respectively.
Harry Ford (4/15) was the standout for Tasman, while Dawe (2/20) and Murdoch (1/18) were the only other wicket takers.
