PORT Neill batsman Tom Davey smashed the highest score record for Eastern Eyre cricket on Saturday when he scored 315 not out while playing against Cowell.
Davey, who played for Tod River in the Port Lincoln association last season, scored 315 of his side's 362 in the 40 over game at Cowell, on the day the home club was celebrating 25 years as one cricket club.
Davey hit 26 sixes and 25 fours in his triple century for a total of 256 so needed to run just 59 runs. To round out his day Davey took four wickets for 36 his side bowled Cowell out for 124.
The next highest scorer in the Port Neill innings was Carl Schumann, who was on loan from Cowell, while his fellow opener Daniel Humphries scored 11 - Humphries was on just six when Davey scored his first century.
Bowlers were smashed to all parts of the ground during the batting onslaught with the best figures coming from Michael Franklin, who bowled eight overs and took two wickets for 48 runs. In contrast, Stephen Carmody went for 46 runs off his three overs, including 25 off his first over, and Scott Jackson went for 68 runs off his six overs.
Scorer Jo Klingberg said the marquee between the two Cowell ovals was bombarded with balls as Davey lofted the ball for six.
His previous highest score this season was 117 and he now has a total of 558 runs from six games at an average of 186.
Cowell won the A grade and colts matches.
