Charlton 10/143 def Lincoln South 10/47

LUKE Strudwick tore through the Lincoln South line up taking six wickets to help deliver Charlton a comfortable win over South at Centenary on Saturday.

Charlton won the toss and elected to bat on a green Centenary wicket.

Plenty of cloud cover and light winds created conditions conducive to bowling, making runs hard to come by.

Lincoln South's opening bowlers Shane Stockham and Nathan Sincock failed to capitalise on the conditions by not making the Charlton batsmen play early.

This allowed Glen Shaw and Ash Gray a chance to leave a lot of balls as they slowly accumulated runs until Shaw was caught at square leg trying to dispatch a short Sincock delivery.

South's Sincock brothers - Aaron and Nathan - pitched off another three Charlton wickets cheaply until Luke Yancic and Ryan Murphy came to the crease.

The pair put on a 50-run partnership, turning the tide in favour of the Charlton batsmen.

Yancic and Murphy made 40 and 32 respectively with a lucky 19 from Knight taking the score past the 100 mark.

The Charlton innings finished in the 49th over, all out for 143.

South's bowlers shared wickets around with Molloy returning the best figures of 3/9.

The Lincoln South players left the field thinking they were in with a good chance of chasing down the 143 set by Charlton.

This however was a false hope as Charlton's bowlers were itching to have a go in the bowler friendly conditions.

Luke Strudwick and Jack Shanley opened up the bowling to Stephen Orchard and Shannon Whitty.

Strudwick bowled with good momentum and only had to wait until his second over before he had the prize wicket of Orchard, convincingly bowled for four.

Jack Shanley was soon into the act, bowling Greg Symonds for two.

The bowling partnership of Shanley and Strudwick proved to be a fatal one for Lincoln South.

At the 10-over mark these two bowlers had taken eight wickets for 22 runs, seven bowled and one LBW.

Aaron Sincock and Colin Whillas had a 22-run partnership, stemming the flow of wickets.

This was short lived with Yancic snaring a quality caught and bowled and then Strudwick was re-introduced with immediate effect and South were all out for 47.

Strudwick finished with 6/17 from 7.5 overs and Jack Shanley 3/18 off seven.

Five ducks were scored in Lincoln South's innings but well done to Aaron Sincock who was left stranded on 13.

An outstanding performance from Luke Strudwick, with what was most certainly a man of the match effort.
