Charlton 8/185 def Tasman 10/130
CHARLTON scored a comfortable win over Tasman at Centenary Oval on Saturday.
Charlton won the toss and elected to bat on a good looking Centenary wicket.
Tasman's opening bowlers Reincke and Forrest struggled in the windy hot conditions until Charlton batsman Glen Shaw top edged a pull shot and was caught at square leg.
This brought Jim Stockham to the crease who batted patiently with Ash Gray until Richard Dawe had Gray caught behind for 19.
Charlton were 3/89 at drinks, with Luke Yancic and Ryan Cottrell batting with patience, leaving a lot of balls and showing the turf pitch and Tasman's bowlers respect.
Yancic and Cottrell departed soon after drinks, making 38 and 20 respectively.
Liam Knight then occupied the crease for the remainder of the 50 overs taking his team's score to 8/185, making a very handy 47 not out.
The best of the Tasman bowlers was young Harry Ford with 2/18 from his nine overs. Humphries also bowled a consistent line and was rewarded with three wickets.
Tasman's chase started poorly with Murdoch bowled by Yancic for one.
Humphries followed soon after, trapped LBW by Mick Smith, for a duck and the pressure was on Andrew Frick to take his young team to victory, but he failed and was bowled by Mick Smith for 13.
Wickets continued to fall with Yancic and Smith doing the damage.
At 7/55 the game seemed all bit over, however a 73-run partnership between Forrest and Gooder added some respectability to the Tasman total.
The reintroduction of Yancic to bowl finally wrapped up in the innings in the 37th over and they were all out for 130.
Charlton's best bowlers were Luke Yancic with 4/19 and Mick Smith with 3/33.
