Tod River 10/99 lost to Lincoln South 1/101
ON an overcast day for cricket Tod River captain Craig Dorward won the toss and elected to bat.
Nathan Sincock had the new ball with Matt "Wobbler" Molloy and both bowled well to Adam Hage and Toby Shearer.
Sincock removed the dangerous Shearer, caught in the gully by the very safe hands of Greg Symonds for a duck and Hage was the next man out, caught behind into Stephen Orchard's brand new red gloves, resulting in Tod River being 2/8.
The next few overs proved productive for the home side with Jed Castley pushing the gaps and Robin Earle hitting the fence.
Castley was the next man out, edging a Nathan Sincock delivery to Orchard, then Zac Calderwood spooned one to Molloy, giving Aaron Sincock the fist of his three victims.
Tod River were now 4/70 and were in more trouble when South captain Damian Critchley took three quick wickets - Earle caught behind for a quick 40, Richard Horgan caught for a duck and Dennis was bowled.
A sharp caught and bowled chance was taken by Aaron Sincock and all of a sudden Tod River were 8/77.
Dorward and Joseph Horgan had compiled a 20-run partnership until Aaron Sincock slipped one through the defences of Dorward. David Hope was the last man out, bowled by Reidy with the score on 99.
Best bowling for South came from Critchley with 3/14 and Aaron Sincock who took 3/41, with Earle making 40 runs for the River.
For the second week in a row a good bowling performance from the South bowlers limited the target to hunt down, and the batsmen set about chasing 100 runs for victory.
Shanan Whitty and Greg Symonds started aggressively against the new ball bowlers of Hage and Mitchell Dennis. They turned the strike over well and put the bad balls away.
Whitty, the only man out for the innings, drove a ball on the up only to be caught by the waiting hands of Jake Sampson at mid-off for 13, giving Hage his first and Tod River's only wicket for the match.
Symonds and Nathan Sincock had an unbeaten partnership of 80 by some hard running between the wickets and some sensible batting to give South another win. Tod River's best bowler was Hage with 1/16, while Nathan Sincock scored 36 not out and Symonds 34 not out to be best with the bat for South.
