EIGHT players from Eyre Peninsula have been selected for the Port Adelaide Magpies under 18 squad.

Sam Gray of Cleve, Derrick Wanganeen, Peter Lindsay, Michael Franklin, Johann Wagner and Dean Dudley all of Port Lincoln, Scott Lycett of Smoky Bay, and Jay Williams of Elliston have been selected to debut in the SANFL this year.

Talent manager Tony Bamford said the number of players from Eyre Peninsula this year was about the same as 2008, and the boys were fitting in well.

Round one began last Saturday with the team beating Norwood by 75 points, with Johann Wagner kicking four goals, Sam Gray two, Scott Lycett two, Derrick Wanganeen two and Jay Williams one. The team will play Glenelg this Saturday.
