MARBLE Range were the rulers of the clash with the Tasman Roosters on Sunday at Wangary Oval when they won by 59 points.
Both teams had plenty of young players in their line ups, but the experience of the Rangers with Michael Sargent kicking eight goals, Carl Semmler finding plenty of ball to kick two goals and several assists, were two big problems that the Roosters had no answer for.
By the end of the first term the Rangers had three goals on the board and that should have been more with some errant goal kicking in the tricky wind conditions.
With a lead of 19 points the Rangers piled on another four goals and five points to open up a lead of 36 points with the Roosters looking the part with two goals of their own.
The runaway train called the Rangers continued on in the second half but there was a lift in the young Tasman players through their best in Nathan Frost, and a strong performance by a potential top class ruckman in Jake Stolle, with Joshua Frost also showing that he is a player to watch.
The Rangers Steven Tokarski was named best on ground, the jolly ruckman Scotty Charman was clever with his work in the ruck and around the ground, but did not have it all his own way with Tasman's Jake Stolle, and Ross Campbell battling hard with limited chances.
Tasman's five goals came through the Christian brothers, Zac and Jarred, with two each, and one to Nathan Frost, a just reward from this hard running worker.
A Ranger that will have the big watch on him this season is Landon Gregory and the honest and tenacious Todd Owen, who could be on the provisional list for the Mortlock squad.
The known tough grind that faces any club when you travel to Wangary would be a good experience for the several young Roosters, with coach Ron Evans prepared to give his young list every opportunity to learn the trade of league football.
Marble Range take on Lincoln South this Saturday at Centenary Oval and this game will decide a lot of factors in both clubs' chances of where they finish come round 15.
