TWO Eyre Peninsula footballers were selected in the team of the carnival at the South Australian Country Championships at Port Pirie on the weekend.
Mark Habner (United Yeelanna) and Haydn Parker (Wirrulla) were named in the team made up of players from country zones throughout the State.
Habner was selected as the team's half back while Parker was named a reserve.
Eyre Peninsula played in three games over the weekend and were successful in winning one.
On the Saturday, EP lost to Eastern by 27 points with best players including Habner, Parker, John Dunn (Blues) and Matt Keatley (Wayback).
In the second match, EP lost to Murray South East by 61 points. Best players were Jake Stoll (Tasman), Leigh Fitzgerald (Kimba), Michael Curtis (Tumby Bay) and Dunn.
The third and final match was played on Sunday, which EP won when they played Central in the play-off for fifth and sixth position. EP won the final by 33 points and best were Keatley, Parker, Joe Cragg-Sapsford (Wayback), Wayne Piggot (Cowell), Dunn and Dillon Beinke (Kimba).
Overall winners of the championship was Southern Districts, from Eastern, Murray South East, Northern, EP and Central.
