Port Lincoln football
LINCOLN South finished best at Centenary Oval on Sunday when they kicked four last quarter goals to Boston's one goal in the last quarter in a game that see-sawed from the first bounce to well into time on in the last quarter.
The game produced a good old fashioned display of toughness, skills and courage that had supporters moaning and than cheering with delight, but it was the Eagle supporters that rose to cheer their players at the final siren.
The first centre bounce saw the Eagles' Jessie Kemp take on Wyatt Tiller and both these under 21 players had an even contest throughout the game.
The Eagles were first to go forward only to see Darryl Marshall have a poster before they kicked the first goal of the game at the five-minute mark.
The intensity lifted sharply with several fierce body clashes as both teams dug in hard for the momentum; it was unforgiving football and the early signs were that this would be a continuous struggle.
Against the flow Boston went forward and Sunny Singh took a screamer to kick the Tigers' first goal.
The Eagles responded from the centre bounce, going into their scoring zone four times but only to register points.
Both the number 10s were starting to have an influence on the game - the Eagles' Andrew Jericho down the back and the Tigers' Brett Watherston in ruck and up forward.
