Lycett named most valuable player

29 Jul, 2009 11:30 PM
SCOTT Lycett (above) of Smoky Bay, who now plays for Port Adelaide Football Club, has been named the round 17 Under 18 Macca's Cup Most Valuable Player nominee.

Playing ruck and full forward, Lycett totalled 29 hit-outs, 30 possessions, four tackles, four clearances, eight marks and a goal in the Magpies' win over Sturt on the weekend.

Judges said Lycett was very effective around the ground in moving the ball up forward and in the pressure he applied to the opposition.

The 17-year-old recently represented South Australia in the McDonald's under 18 State team.

The Macca's Cup MVP recognises a rising star of the under 18 competition each week of the 2009 season.

Weekly nominees receive a Skins garment and go in the running to win the MVP medal and $1000.
