IN beating Boston at Wangary the Rangers have given themselves a chance to make the four as they are level with Boston on points with percentage separating both sides, and the Tigers narrowly holding fourth spot.
With the Rangers still missing Semmler they gained Mick Sargeant back from hamstring problems while Boston have lost one of their good forwards in Dwaine Hart and Brett Watherston is still having knee problems.
The Rangers were too tall and strong for Boston and played in front all day, giving themselves first use of the ball.
With the luxury of having Ackland at centre half forward, the Rangers threw Jarrod Doudle at full back, which worked perfectly as in the first quarter he repelled everything and did so for the remainder of the game.
The Rangers' new recruit in Oatway was very good also in the last quarter and will get better as he nears match fitness.
It was the Rangers' small brigade in West, Calderwood, Swaffer and Sampson, with their pace, that got the Rangers off to a good start, which saw the Rangers leading 3-3 to 0-5 at the first quarter.
In the second quarter Steven Tokarski worked himself into the game with his hard and tough football.
For Boston, Rhys Marsh, Scott Blacker and Adam Hywood tried hard but didn't get enough help from their teammates, as shown by the scoreboard being goalless at half time with West kicking his second, and the Rangers had a handy lead 6-4 to 0-6.
In the third quarter the Tigers started to get in front and get first use of the ball, and got a couple of goals through North and Singh, but were still off line when shooting for goal, wasting opportunities.
At the end of the third quarter the Tigers had kicked 2-10 to 7-4.
The last quarter was a dour struggle for both sides and Marble Range's turn to be off line shooting for goal.
With Oatway and Calderwood kicking their second goals for the day the Rangers ran out winners and keep their finals hope alive.
If Marble Range can get Carl Semmler back and Micky Sargeant stays sound they are going to be a threat as a few of their players are still short of match fitness.
They were best served once again by Damon Scott who must be rated as one of Lincoln's best backmen.
Scott Charman, with his height, plays well in ruck and defence when needed, Steven Tokaski, Jarrod Doudle and Chris Brooks, who can spell Charman in ruck or go forward or back and play well in any of those positions, were best for the Rangers.
For Boston, Wyatt Tiller tried hard in ruck all day Marsh, Blacker and Hywood all tried but didn't get enough support at times.
The next round of matches is going to have plenty of interest as these two teams try to hang on to fourth spot.
A big thank you to both club's supporters in donating a huge amount of money to the Call To Arms appeal.
