UNITED Yeelanna Football Club will celebrate the milestone of 100 years of football in the community next weekend, August 1 and 2.
Celebrations will be held over the weekend at Karkoo, and will include many activities.
Saturday the A grade team will wear heritage guernseys, which will be auctioned during that evening's celebrations.
The team of the century will also be announced that night, with memorabilia available for purchase and photo opportunities will be available during the day.
Sunday's activities will include an informal barbecue followed by a 'walk down memory lane', which will be a chance for past and present players and supporters to share their greatest moments and memories from over the years.
Entertainment will be provided by old fashioned games for the children and the young at heart such as the egg and spoon race, three-legged race, sack race, tug-of-war and longest drop kick competition (male and female).
The centenary celebrations will be a great opportunity for anyone who has been involved with the Shannon/Yeelanna, Karkoo, Shannon, United (Murdinga), United (Karkoo and Murdinga), and the United Yeelanna Football Clubs at any time to catch up with old friends or team-mates and be a part of this momentous occasion.
A caravan and tent area will be set up near the oval with access to public toilets and showers.
Registrations of anyone planning to attend the centenary celebrations would be very much appreciated by the organisers for catering and name tag purposes.
To register phone Dianne Watson on 8676 6049 or email cwatto@activ8.net.au as soon as possible.
