THE Port Lincoln Gymnastics Club annual trophy presentation was held on Sunday, October 28, with a huge attendance by all gymnastics classes.

A brief annual general meeting was held to elect office bearers with Janice Jones being re-elected as president, Jo Fox vice-president, Deb Wilson treasurer, Meryl Davidson secretary, Pauline Dodd grants officer, along with several new committee members.

A small presentation was made to the following volunteers for their outstanding efforts in 2007: Kendra Kotz, junior assistant coach; Courtney Balek, junior assistant coach and volunteer; Sandra Balek, volunteer, jack of all trades; Valerie Staunton for her term as secretary; and Bernadette Dale for her administrative support.

This was followed by a sausage sizzle and the presentations.

The 2007 Ray Porter shield was awarded to Sandra Balek for her volunteer support, both to committee and coaches, and also to Pauline Dodd for her very successful role as grants officer.

Life membership was awarded to Hayley Anderson for her many contributions to the club, including a term of president, years on the committee and now as a coach.

Medals were presented to all classes of gymnastics, from Kindergymnastics (4-5 years), general gym, men’s artistic gymnastics (MAG) and women’s artistic gymnastics (WAG).

Coach’s trophies were presented to Brittany Burner (general gym), Mardi Dennis (WAG 1), Malia Gynell (WAG 2), Montana Grant-Cook (WAG 3), Cheyenne Donaghey (WAG 4), Jared Dodd (MAG 1), and Samuel Kurtin (MAG 2).

Female gymnast of the year went to Chloe Meyers, who has been an excellent role model, is dedicated to gymnastics and always has a positive attitude.

Chloe has also competed in four major competitions in 2007, winning bronze on vault at a State level.

Male gymnast of the year was Jai Bourne. Fairly new to gymnastics, he shows talent and dedication that will inspire the junior boys.

Highest point scorer for the boys went to Joel Whiteman with a score of 51.700; a quiet achiever, Joel competed in the local competition in May, placing third overall.

Kodi Mundy, with her score of 57.059, won the highest point scorer for the girls.

Well done to all gymnasts in 2007.

The annual Christmas Gala will be held on Friday, December 7 and rumour has it the Christmas Cave will reappear with all the magic of 2006.
