Captain has the round of the day

AN EP Property Valuations stableford round was contested by 94 men and 10 women on Saturday.

A grade was won by Wayne Macksad with 43 points and Ben Lees was runner-up on 40 points, counting out Mick Hegarty, while Jim Eglinton came fourth on 39 as a result of a countback.

In B grade the best score came from Charlie Vella with 41 from Chris Lack, 40. Dean Weatherspoon, 39, counted out Dave Sargent for third spot.

The score of the day came from captain Peter Schaeffer, who came in with 46 points to win C grade. Tom Dawson, 42, counted out Dave Redman for second position while Mark Strycharski came fourth on 41.

Sue Cotton won the women's section with 41 points from Carolyn Cocks, 35, and Janet Whittaker, 31.

Birdies: sixth: Dean Weatherspoon, Wayne Macksad; 12th: Guy Bagshaw; 18th: Carolyn Cocks, Ray Glendenning, Chris Lack, Ryan Lack, Peter Williams, Peter Daniells.

NTP: first: Darren Grocke; sixth: Dean Weatherspoon; ninth: Dave Sargent; 10th: Jess Whittaker; 12th: Greg Hughes; 18th: Ryan Lack.

Thursday, February 2

The first of two rounds of the Greg Pedemonte trophy saw 28 women playing 18 holes and another playing nine holes.

Janet Whittaker, net 73, had the best score in division one (0-23). Jacquie McNamara, continuing her good form, was runner-up with 74 after counting out Marg Jenkins, who was unlucky to also be counted out by Kaye Jaensch, who won the nine-hole event with 36.5.

In division two (24-45) Raelene Thompson had the best score of 75 ahead of Lorraine McDonald, 76. Chris Bone with 37.5 was the nine-hole winner.

NTP with the second shot on the ninth was Carolyn Cocks.

Leaders for the Greg Pedemonte Trophy are Janet Whittaker, 73, with Jacquie McNamara and Marg Jenkins close behind on 74.

Points for the day: Janet Whittaker 3, Jacquie McNamara and Marg Jenkins each two and Raelene Thompson one.

Wednesday, February 1

A strong field of 68 men including Chris Hiern from Blackwood played a stableford round in three divisions.

Ever-consistent Craig Roberts won division one (0-13) with 41 points. Andrew Fraser, 39, was runner-up and Roger Forrest third with 37 after a countback.

Rex Bichard won the front nine with 22 and Stuart Pobke the back nine with 20.

Division two (14-18) winner John Nippress came in with 39 while Maurie Barry on 37 counted out Steve Symons for second spot.

The front nine was won by Cyril Thompson with 20 and the back by Kris Bunder on 23.

In division three (19-36) the winner was Andrew Holliday with 39 from Bob Sorensen, 38, and Reg Kemp, 37. Jack Lowe and Gerry Hemming each scored 20 points in winning the front and back nines respectively.

NTP: first: Brad Bobrige; sixth: Cyril Thompson; ninth: Kent Coleman; 10th: Steve Symons; 12th: John Cheriton; 18th: Craig Roberts.

Tuesday, January 31

The twilight 10-hole stableford round attracted 25 players in two divisions.

Greg Hughes, 23, counted out Leon Davies to win division one (0-18) and Andrew Fraser was third on 22.

In division two Chris Brooks was best with 22.

Junior Adam Davies was runner-up with 20 and Dean Weatherspoon third on 18.

Sunday, January 29

A field of sixteen competed in the day's stableford.

Junior Dylan Vonderwall scored 43 points to win from Chris Lack, 41, with Chris Brooks third with 36.
