THE Port Lincoln Tourist Park Accommodation stroke competition saw 65 men, for whom it was the monthly medal round, and 11 women participating.
Jim Eglinton won A grade with net 66 from John Strycharski, 67. Wayne Gale on 68 counted out Warren Rosman to come third.
The winner in B grade was Boris (the Phantom) Kovacic with 68 with a three-way countback needed for the minor places where Reece Kemp was second, Cyril Thompson third and Andy Smith fourth, all on 69.
Junior Adam Davies was again in the winners' circle with the best C grade score of 66. Another three-way countback saw octogenarian Geoff Will score 71 to finish ahead of Nick Tromp and Mark Cooper.
Jacquie McNamara continued her good form in winning the women's event with 68 while Sue Cotton, 72, counted out Kaye Jaensch to be runner-up.

A relatively small field of 54 took to the field for Tony's Tuna International Australia Day ambrose for men's and mixed teams of four.
The men's winning team with a gross score of 62 was Steve Symons, Trent Bradford, Stuart Pobke and Brad Richards. Runners-up were Roger Forrest, Bruce Forrest, Gavin Cheriton and Nick Tromp with 65 off the beater.
Net score winners were Trevor (Pa) Thompson and his grandsons Adam Davies, Brett Davies and Rubin Thompson with net 57.625. The second placed team of Kevin Reidy, Brian Harris, Peter Crawford and John Strycharski scored 60.375.
Of the mixed teams the gross winners with 65 off the stick were Leon Davies, Lisa Davies, Jason Verhees and Cindy Carr. Runners-up Carolyn Cocks, Val Sharrad, Ross Sharrad and Warren Rosman came in with 67.
Winning the mixed net event with a score of 59.875 were Sue Cotton, Kaye Jaensch, Greg Cotton and Reece Kemp.
A net 60 was scored by runners-up Cynthia Thompson, Adie Fraser, Buzz McDowall and Jack Thompson.

Fifty men were out for a stableford round played in three divisions. Rex Bichard, with an equal best score of the day, 43 points, counted out Leon Davies to win division one (0-13) while Stuart Pobke, 41, was third.
Bill Healey scored 21 to win the front nine and Mark Hopkins, also with 21, won the back nine on a countback.
Division two (14-19) winner Maurie Barry scored 40 from Peter Crawford, 38, and Reece Kemp on 36.
Rex Chilman had the best front nine with 21. Ray Glendenning scored 24 to win the back nine (what happened on the front nine?).
Junior Adam Davies, 35, was ahead of Peter Milczarek and Peter Watherston senior as a result of a countback to win division three (20-36). Colin Clark with 21 was best on the front nine while Nick Tromp was successful on the back nine with 17.

Tuesday, January 24
Hot conditions meant only 15 players took to the field for a 10-hole twilight stableford round. Leon Davies had the best score of 24 points. Greg Cotton came second on 23 while Tyson Dodd was third with 21 after a countback.
Sunday, January 22
The usual stableford event was contested by 20 men and four women. Carol Thompson with 32 points was best for the women.
Steve Symons came in with a fantastic 47 points to win for the men from David Drage, 43, and Jess Whittaker, 41.
On Tuesday, February 7 at 8pm in the clubrooms former Australian Test cricketer Jeff Thomson, who took 200 Test wickets in 51 tests will be guest speaker.
