Cummins women's golf

A SMALL group of women competed in the first stableford competition for the season on Wednesday at the Cummins Golf Club, which was played in two divisions.

With the course still very dry and very little grass on the fairways, a few came in with very handy scores.

Division one winner with 40 points was Helen Clark and new member Jenny Gosling won division two with a very impressive 48 points.

Cummins Mower & Motorcycle nearest the pin (NTP) on number seven was Chris Hayman and the Doug Watson Menswear NTP on 17 was Lyn Lemmey-Secker.

Forbes Furniture Birdie ball was won by Jenny Gosling number one.

Novelty for the day was most twos scored: division one: Judy Holman; and division two: Carmel Sheehan.

Handicap breaks: Jenny Gosling 29 to 25; Sharon Thomas 37 to 34; Lyn Lemmey-Secker 30 to 29 and Carmel Sheehan 38 to 27.

Nita Howell, the only nine-holer to play this week, had some very impressive shots during her shortened round.

This week is a stroke round and hopefully with the milder weather, a few more of women will venture out.
