Tumby Bay lost to Ramblers 36-46

THE match between Ramblers and Tumby was always going to be a tough game and there could have been several players awarded best on the ground.

The first quarter started with windy conditions but the sun came out for the rest of the match with only a slight sprinkle of rain.

Injury time was called early for Ramblers with Nicole Howell taking a heavy fall and being replaced by Amii Warner.

It was a tough contest between Ramblers' Jodi Mickan at goal defence and Tumby Bay's Stacey Curtis at goal attack. Both players were fighting hard for their teams and not giving an inch to gain possession.

Ramblers' Aimee Pedler at goal attack and Ali Ward at goal shooter worked well together with good movement around the ring, and accurate shooting by them both saw their team up by three at quarter time, 13-10.

Ramblers started stronger than Tumby in the second quarter, capitalising on their first centre pass and a quick turnover, resulting in two quick goals.

There was a good tussle between the goalies and defenders in Ramblers' goal ring with Brooke Neindorf and Emily Schwark working well together to try and stop as many goal scoring opportunities as possible.

Tumby were unable to make use of some of their turnovers, which Ramblers took advantage of, with Lisa Richardson and Jodi Mickan taking some clean intercepts and nice rebounds in Tumby's forward line.

Tumby Bay's Charmaine Cross and Ramblers' Brooke Pedler, both playing through the centre court, were fighting hard and would have left a bit of skin on the court for their efforts.

Ramblers gained on the lead again at half time, being up by five at the break.

The premiership quarter saw Ramblers come out firing, scoring a few quick goals in a row, to which Tumby couldn't retaliate.

Emily Schwark showed some promise for Tumby Bay, working hard and picking up a few loose balls and some strong rebounds in this quarter, but unfortunately her efforts were not finished off in Tumby's goals.

Ramblers took advantage of some poor decisions by the Blues and were up 35-26 at the end of the third quarter. Tumby came out in the last quarter wanting to finish the game strongly and kept the scoring pretty even.

Aimee Pedler played a dominant role in the Ramblers forward line and a great game of accurate shooting and nice moving around the ring earned her the Anzac Day medal.

Tumby Bay had a few more stray passes to end the game but hopefully know what they need to do to make the score line closer the next time these two teams meet.

Ramblers, the better side on the day, took the game by 10 goals 46-36.

Incentives: Tumby Bay: Emily Schwark; Ramblers: Ali Ward.
