THE Port Lincoln Calisthenic Club has had a very busy year.
In April there were six girls who went to Adelaide for the SA State Graceful Competitions.
They were all successful with some getting a place, all had a fantastic time and gained valuable experience on the Adelaide stage.
At the end of May the club held the regional competitions, with Whyalla coming for the occasion.
There were team competitions in march, exercise, clubs, rods and dance, with the Port Lincoln junior a team and the intermediates both getting first place.
There were solo, duo and graceful competitions with one Adelaide entrant showing her solo and graceful. All of the local girls did a great job with most of them getting a mention in their dances.
From end of July through to September the SA State Calisthenics Competitions were held with five teams going over to Adelaide and competing.
Some girls also went to Adelaide for solo, graceful and duo competitions in November.
If you think your child would like to go and try Calisthenics in 2010 (first two lessons free) phone Rayleen on 0427 607 408, 8687 2045 or Naomi on 0402 634 836, 8683 4197, with teams starting in term 1 next year.
The masters are a team of coaches and mothers wanting to have a bit of fun each week learning a few items from calisthenics.
This year the masters did their march and showcased their dance, which was "I Will Follow Him". They all had fun and we are always looking for more women to join the group.
On top of the seriousness of competitions the club also has some fun planned activities throughout the year. This will include a club camp, Tunarama parade, regional competitions, team sleepovers, discos, family fun days, and mid year and end of year concerts.
All girls are presented at the presentation day with the competing team girls vying for the Marie Bascombe Perpetual Trophy. This year's winners were: sub junior: Shani Stoekel; junior: Rachel Johnston; intermediate: Casey Gulino; and seniors: Jessica Bennett.
