The weekend started with the youngest generation of sailors pairing up with some more experienced sailors in the pacer boats for two races on Saturday morning.

Russell Stanley was victorious in both races, holding out Zoey Fordham in the first and Monique Trenberth in the second.

Sebastian Trenberth did an excellent job skippering the entirety of both races and finishing with a third and a fourth place.

A mixed fleet of 17 heron, pacer and 125 boats took to the water for the afternoon racing as the Tumby fleet was boosted by generous numbers from Port Lincoln and Coffin Bay.

Peter Henderson and Roy Gossink showed the fleet a clean set of heels in both the afternoon races, sailing away to impressive victories in fresh conditions.

Drop Bear sailed well to take victory in both heron races as the visiting sailors enjoyed the steady Tumby Bay breezes.

Amy Russ and Caleb Trenberth in Tumby Takeaway sailed strongly to win both pacer races.

The racing, however, was not without controversy. A collision between the very experienced and even more stubborn old heads of Jeff Schramm and Mark Lewis resulted in a large hole in the port side of Mark Lewis's Voodoo, which put the boat out of the weekend's action.

Sunday morning was supposed to start with a legends race but the legends of the Tumby Bay Yacht Club partied a little too hard to the tunes of the President's Men on Saturday evening and none were up for some early morning sailing.

Afternoon racing started in idyllic conditions with four pacer and four 125 boats heading for the start line.

The first pacer race was hotly contested with Millie Nankivell and Isobele Murphy in McHendrie Crash Repairs, Andrew Stanley and Alysha Gossink in RG Cave & Co, and Amy Russ and Paul Koch in Tumby Takeaway swapping the lead.

In the 125 race Chris and Sebastian Trenberth in Smorstok stuck with Peter Henderson and Roy Gossink in Carnivore early but Carnivore snuck away on the downwind legs and sailed away to victory. They were followed home by Fletcher Kennedy and Karina Lewis in Wind Dancer and Mark Lewis and Erina Russ sailing the borrowed Meg and Mog.

The breeze picked up for the second race but the result did not change in the 125 class with Carnivore sailing away to victory.

In the pacer class Andrew Stanley and Alysha Gossink in RG Cave & Co redeemed themselves, taking an easy victory over Matt Trenberth sailing solo in Jumana Engineering.

The evening finished with a formal celebration of the Tumby Bay Yacht Club's 50th birthday and the awarding of well-deserved life memberships to hard working club stalwarts Mark Lewis, Chris Trenberth and Linda Trenberth.
