HOW quickly the tides can turn in this superb sport.
A showdown of the finest caused a dramatic upset in the A grade as Eagles took on the top team Roadies and toppled them in a last minute nail biter.
Squaws were extremely happy with this result also as it means they now share top honours again with Roadies, (on 12 premiership points each) after the Red and Whites gained a good win over Shields in their A grade clash.
Both Eagles and Squaws basked in the glorious January sun as all three grades for each club enjoyed wins for the day.
It makes for a very interesting last round of softball in one match time, not long now for teams to choose wether to conquer or divide. Dazzling diamond action to follow from here on in.
A grade
Eagles def Roadrunners 8-7
Eagles coach Andrew Bird will be licking his chops at this tremendous effort of his mighty Eagles outfit, with two batters down and two runs needed for a win, it was bound to be a rip snorter.
Roadies made one run in their first attempt and Eagles got off to a fantastic start with three on the board, Rikki-Lee Makuch wasting no time in knocking out a triple base hit to get proceedings going.
No runs for either team in the second innings, both infields working hard to make the outs.
One run to Roadies again in the third with a nice double bagger punched out by Steph Ridge.
Eagles went one better in this innings with two runners safely home with nice safe hits coming from Dinnison, Woods and Dendunning to help this cause.
Roadies fought back in the fourth to keep Eagles to one run with tight field work the catalyst, and gained three handy ones for themselves, Lands and Webb enjoying safe hits.
A solitary run for Roadrunners in the fifth innings and only three fly outs for Eagles in the fifth dig meant scores were even at the top of the sixth innings and with time running out, things were starting to get hot under the collar.
Roadies up first to bat crossed one run through Ridge due to a nice double base piece from Lands before Eagles rallied to make the necessary outs. It was make or break for the Blue and Golds.
Safe centrefield hits from Bird and Newman meant there were two runners sitting on base, and two outs were already recorded when Tarlee Dinnison entered the batters box.
No doubt she felt the pressure as two strikes were placed on her tally, but with experience and determination for her team she tonked out a beauty to right field to get her two hopeful runners home to take Eagles over the line by one run.
A memorable game for the season.

Squaws def Shields 14-0
A nice win for Squaws after the Christmas break, without one error in their field work.
Shields struggled to find gaps and weaknesses in the tight red and white outfit.
Squaws made a handy four runs in the first innings before Shields made the outs, with a good tag from Nicolle Johns at third base.
Shields were unable to score at their first attempt. A highlight in Squaws infield was a spectacular low catch from talented Te Wano at shortstop.
Three more for Squaws in the second innings, Steph Hull batting a treat to score a double bagger to help in this endeavour.
Squaws best innings at bat occurred in the third innings, with Karen Hardy and Christine Sincock knocking out triples and Steph Hull locking and loading again for her second double bagger of the day.
This helped accumulate seven big ones safely home for the Red and Whites.
Squaws still provided the utmost security in the field though as Shields were still unable to penetrate the diamond with the bat.
They did rally in the fourth and fifth innings however to give the same back to Squaws as flyballs were hit up for easy outs as Squaws batters proved too eager.
Stacey Smith from Shields enjoyed four nice catches in the outfield in the last two digs of Squaws batting.
In the end, Squaws momentous strength in the field, accurate pitching from Welsh and steady batting from the onset proved to be the winner on the day.
Best at bat was Steph Hull from Squaws with four from five, three of these were marvellous safe outfield hits.
Best in field with six outs was Stacey Smith from Shields.
B grade
Eagles def Roadrunners 18-13
Eagles made three at their first attempt, with a nice hit coming from Belinda Watson. Roadies replied with two with a left field hit from Carly Redman helping.
Eagles made four in the second innings, with Yvette Borgeest batting well.
Roadies were unable to score in this innings as Eagles infield proved tight.
Roadies scored one in the third innings, Redman again proving handy with the bat. Eagles replied with two as Dinnison had a safe knock to right field.
In the fourth dig Roadies gained three and Eagles a whopping nine runs, which in the end, even though Roadies had an extra dig, proved to be a big enough tally for Eagles.
Best at bat was Eagles' Belinda Watson with three from four.
Best in field was Eagles' Paula Hodgson with seven outs.
Squaws def Shields 17-8
The Red and Whites surely had their Weetbix before this game. They kept Shields scoreless in the first innings and added four to their tally. Tash Miegel and Anita Smith enjoyed double baggers at their go at bat.
Shields fought back in their second attempt to have their best innings of five runners safely home, capitalising on some errors in the field by Squaws.
Squaws rallied again in the batters box and added a dignified five runs. Simes and Smith focused and knocked out safe hits to get the runners around.
Shields strengthened in the field in the third innings to record three quick outs. Shields crossed one run through Karinda Weisz as she tonked out a double bagger to centrefield.
Squaws re-grouped in the fourth and last innings as they kept Shields to two runners only enjoying home plate visitations and walloped on eight big ones for themselves, with a triple bag bonanza coming from Tash Miegel and a second double base bomb from Anita Smith, giving Squaws a nine-run buffer in the end.
Best at bat was Squaws' Anita Smith with four from four.
Best in field with six outs was Shields' Lynette Johns.
Under 16s
Eagles def Roadrunners 8-7
A hard-fought match and the narrowest of wins in the result.
Roadies got off to the best start to put one run on the board as Carly Redman opened the account with a triple base bomb. Eagles were unable to score in their first attempt even though Jessie Cindric tried her best as she punched out a nice double bagger to centrefield.
Two runs each for the second innings, Tammy Stopetie helping her young roadies around the diamond with a two-base beauty.
Jessie Cindric did not disappoint her Eagles teammates as she locked and loaded again, this time punching out a triple bagger.
The third innings proved viable for Roadies as they enjoyed their best with four runners safely home.
Eagles made the most of fielding errors from Roadrunners to add three more, Melissa Balek batting well for her Blue and Golds.
In the fourth and last innings, Eagles knuckled down in the field to put away the Roadrunners camp without a run and they made three for themselves.
Sarah Montgomery proved valuable as she punched out a double base hit to get the necessary runs home for a one-run win to the Eagles chicklings.
Best at bat were Eagles Melissa Balek and Stephanie Perry with three from three each.
Best in field was Savana Pruess, Roadrunners, with five outs.
Squaws def Shields 11 to 8
These Squaws youngsters would have sore gums from smiling, slogging it out for a hard fought win against a strong Shields outfit.
Both teams opened their accounts with four runs in the first innings. Amberley Fox did not waste any time as she enjoyed the view from all bases to knock out a home run beauty for her beloved Shields. Safe hits from brother and sister duo Rebekkah Miegel and Kameron Miegel helped Squaws.
In the second and last innings Shields were able to cross four handy runs before Squaws made the necessary outs for another chance at bat and bat they did.
Squaws gained the maximum seven runs in their last attempt. Rebekkah Miegel proved handy, knocking a safe hit out to centrefield as well as Demi Mundy and Alana Jantke.
The little mighty red and white juniors ran away with a three-run buffer for the day, Squaws coach Tash Miegel proud of her little troopers.
