Swim thru
THE annual Port Lincoln swim thru kicked off the 2010 Tunarama weekend on Saturday morning with 34 competitors completing the one kilometre swim from the town jetty to the yacht club and back.
In a fantastic race, 14-year-old Jordan Carr held off last year's winner Alison Reynolds to win his first swim thru.
Jordan swam the 1000 metres in the excellent time of 16 minutes, 10 seconds, which was three seconds quicker than Reynolds' time of 16.13. Third across the line was Rebecca Pudney in 16.30. Pudney is also a past winner of the swim thru.
Sean Osborne swam a great race and finished in 16.35.
This year's event saw six junior swimmers enter the race.
Apart from Jordan, Sean Proude finished fifth, Briony Veldhuyzen finished sixth, Lily Ness was eighth, Georgia Matena finished 10th and Abby Dawson was fourth in her age group.
Mal Drummond was the first in the "legend" category, finishing in 17.29.
Well done to all competitors.
