TEN West Coast Swimming Club swimmers competed at Roxby Downs in the State qualifying event on November 26.
The carnival hosted five clubs with 180 competitors.
All of the West Coast swimmers swam some fantastic races throughout the day with many taking home medals.
The two youngest and newest swimmers, Jackson Chalmers and Lavinia Tonkin, started the day off both winning medals in their first race, Jackson receiving three gold medals and Lavinia winning two silver medals for the day.
Jackson and Lavinia were crowd favourites with their excitement, cheering and determined attitude.
James Andrews and Max Lambert competed in the 10 and under age group. James ended up with five gold medals and Max Lambert with three medals. Both boys swam competitively and swam some great personal best times.
Natasha Hammond and Brooke Traeger competed against each other in most of their events. The experience of these two swimmers shone through with each of them hauling in the medals, Brooke winning three gold and Natasha receiving three silver and a bronze.
The boys' 12 and under consisted of Luke Andrews, Henry Lambert, Fraser Tonkin and Kyle Chalmers.
Henry and Fraser shaved seconds off some of their personal best times and swam with determination and pride.
Kyle dominated, winning three gold and one silver in his individual events. He also won the 13 and under 200 individual medley and ranked fourth overall in the open 100-metre freestyle.
Luke Andrews took home five medals with his feature events winning gold in the 50 metre breaststroke and bronze in the open 100 metre breaststroke.
Natasha Hammond, Brooke Traeger, Luke Andrews and Kyle Chalmers made up the relay team for the 13 and under 200 individual medley. Brooke started with a strong backstroke, followed by Luke leading the way in breaststroke, Kyle in butterfly and Natasha finishing the leg in freestyle.
The team easily led and won gold in this event.
Overall it was a successful and fun carnival and the club acknowledges and appreciates each and everyone for their efforts.
