TWO Port Lincoln boys have been selected in the State SAPSASA swimming team.

Luke Andrews and Kyle Chalmers will fly to Perth in September to compete against Australia's best.

Both members of the West Coast Swimming Club, the boys are training hard in the lead up to the national meet and will join a team made up mostly of young swimmers from Adelaide.

Luke, who is in Year 6 at school, will compete in the under 12 age group and will race in his favourite stroke, breaststroke and also in freestyle.

Kyle, who is in Year 5 at school, is in the under 11 age group and will race in his favourite, butterfly, and freestyle too, as well as relays, which the boys will both take part in.

Both boys made many trips to Adelaide to compete in order to get to a level where they could be selected for the State team.

They said they were excited to make the team and hope to do well in Perth.

Between now and September they will fly to Adelaide three times for training as well as training in Port Lincoln three nights a week and two mornings. Often the boys will swim three kilometres before school.

They also manage to fit footy into their schedule with Luke playing for Tasman and Kyle for Lincoln South.
