AFTER 10 years, cricket finally returned to the MCG (Murdinga Cricket Ground) as Lock took on Cowell in their B grade clash to start the season at the weekend.

Cowell won the toss and elected to bat against the opening bowlers of Siebert and Polkinghorne.

Openers Siviour and Crabb batted steadily working singles around the field with the occasional boundary.

The first wicket was Siviour bowled by Andrew Hetzel on 44, followed by Crabb.

Martin Deer piled on Cowell’s highest score, 41, with wickets falling around him.

Franklin was steady with 28 not out as Cowell finished all out for 167. Lock’s best bowlers were Hetzel and Heath, three wickets each.

Oliver and Crabb opened the bowling for Cowell and it was not long before Oliver bowled Heath. More wickets soon fell with Crabb claiming Mellor and Hetzel.

Guy Morton compiled 74 with an outstanding fourth wicket partnership of 141 with Siebert.

With 13 runs to get, Morton and Siebert fell to the bowling of White and Sutton.

Polkinghorne and Kelly made the winning runs with an over left, finishing with 7/169.
