PORT Lincoln Junior Primary School teacher Joanne Tilley was among 14 winners in this year’s SA Excellence in Public Education Awards, presented on October 14.

Ms Tilley received the Early Years Teaching Award with Tarsha Howard of Craigmore Kindergarten.

Ms Tilley was one of two finalists in this year’s award from the junior primary school, alongside principal Kathy Davison who was in the leadership category.

Ms Davison, who accepted the award on Ms Tilley’s behalf, said the school was proud of her achievement and that she was a wonderful educator.

“Jo has a positive impact on all staff in the work she does and is always willing to assist, share and develop others in becoming highly accomplished teachers also,” she said.

It was the first time the school has had a category winner although it has had many nominations in the past, including four this year.

Ms Tilley thanked all the colleagues and families she had worked with during her career.
