A POP-UP art gallery on King Street showcasing the work of local artists, will be open to the public for the next five weeks.

One of the artists behind the pop-up gallery Chris Atkinson said they were given the opportunity to rent it by her brother who had bought the building and renovated it into the Aart Apartments.

What was an empty retail space is now filled with varied works from local artists who open the space in pairs from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.

She said the gallery had also been a boost for some of the not-so-confident artists, some of whom were surprised to see their painting selling.

Artist Ann Staunton said the pop-up was a great way for artists to share their art with the community.
