THE opening of the newly developed Port Lincoln Leisure Centre is just weeks away with YMCA South Australia confident the facility will be open to the public by March 3.
YMCA South Australia is managing the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre in partnership with the Port Lincoln City Council.
The Port Lincoln Pool website has also been up and running for a number of weeks and as of yesterday memberships and swimming lessons were available to purchase online.
In addition to announcing the pool will open next month, YMCA has also appointed Corey Slade to manage the leisure centre.
Mr Slade worked for more than eight years at the helm of the Port Lincoln Pool and spent five years as the community health, mobility and falls prevention facilitator for the Lower Eyre Health Service.
He said he was really excited about providing the Port Lincoln community with quality health and wellness programs and a place for families to unwind and have fun together.
“There is already a buzz in the community that the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre is nearly ready,” Mr Slade said.
“I’m looking forward to providing opportunities for the community to improve their physical and mental health through recreational programs and services.”
YMCA South Australia, chief executive officer Haydn Robins said YMCA had been recruiting local people for all the centre’s programs.
He said the standard of the applicants across all of the roles was high and it was vital to get the team at the new facility right.
“It’s great to have Corey on board, Corey brings strong business experience as well as a genuine passion for health, fitness and community engagement,” Mr Robins said.
The Port Lincoln Leisure Centre will open to the public on Friday, March 3 from 6am.
