During 2016, 29 members from the Port Lincoln Anglers Club competed in the Australian Anglers Association state championships.

Locals came away with a large number of awards.

At the presentation dinner in Adelaide recently these members were presented with team and individual awards.

The locals participated in all five events – rock and beach, offshore, estuary, dryland casting and freshwater – and came away with a large number of team and individual awards.

The team won the veteran and runner-up veteran trophies, men’s runner up trophy, ladies and ladies runner-up trophy and the junior trophy.

Individual winners were: veterans runner-up: Wayne Paterson; ladies winner: Donna Peters; ladies runner-up: Heather Hampel; junior winner: Riley Peters; and junior runner-up: Archer Appleton.

The club acknowledged the many local businesses that sponsor the club each year, without which it would find it difficult to make ends meet and the Port Lincoln Times for the articles.
