THE Port Lincoln Singers group is delighted to welcome renowned and inspirational musical director Rosemary Nairn OAM and many choristers from Adelaide and other country areas to perform in Port Lincoln this month.

The massed choir will present Two Captains at the Nautilus Theatre on Sunday, April 23 at 2pm as part of the SALT Festival.

This performance, in narration and song, was composed and arranged by Ms Nairn as a tribute to the epic voyages of, and meeting between, captains Matthew Flinders and the Frenchman Nicolas Baudin in South Australian waters in 1802.

It was sung at Port Lincoln, Woodville and Victor Harbor as part of Encounter 2002, a statewide event celebrating the bicentenary of this historic meeting.

Ms Nairn also had a key role in the presentation of three major Eyre Peninsula events in the 1990s: Eyre Celebrates at Wudinna in 1991, Eyre Remembers at Lock in 1995 and EPIC (Eyre Peninsula in concert) at Tcharkulda Rock in 1998.

The choir at each of these events comprised members of many choral groups from all over Eyre Peninsula.

It will be a great privilege for the Port Lincoln Singers and visiting choristers who were previously involved in presenting Two Captains and for those who participated in the 1990s events to again be led by Ms Nairn.

Rehearsals are well underway in Port Lincoln as local singers prepare for the production.

Tickets are $20 from the Nautilus Arts Centre or call 8621 2351 or online at www.nautilusartscentre.com.au.

Tickets may be available at the door if seats are available.
