Dan Day put on a show on the two days of the Teakle Auto Sprint to post the top culmulative time overall.
A field of 66 cars took on the inaugural Auto Sprint which ranged from a Lamborghini to a 1968 Volkswagon Beetle and everything in between.
Saturday saw the contenders emerge early with Day posting the fastest time for sprint one with 42.15 seconds, ahead of Simon Feil on 43.55.
Day, racing in his 2013 Subaru WRX Sti finished on top after the first day with 4:07.89, nearly three seconds ahead of Mark Rundle in his 2003 Mitsubishi Evo and nearly five seconds ahead of Henry Beasley and Greg Keene.
The tight turns caused some havoc with Stephen Mee causing some damage after hitting a hay bale and Craig Van Diemen bowing out on the fifth sprint after hitting a barricade.
Sunday didn’t start well for Day as two slow runs saw him drop to fifth as drivers including the Beasleys, Rundle and Nick Streckeisen made their move to the front.
It would be a different story from the third run onwards as Day became the first to break the 1:01 barrier on his third run and stayed below the 1:02 mark for the rest of the day.
With the fastest day two time of 1:00.4 Day would finish on a total time of 10:24.76 to finish outright winner ahead of Rundle on 10:31.37 and John Beasley on 10:32.40.
Day two had its share of casualties, Simon Feil, who had a great first day and was among the leaders on day two suffered a broken gearbox and sat out after the third sprint while crashes included John Crabb, Keir Wilson and Scott Limbert.
Day said brake problems hampered his first two runs an with time to make up he was determined to get within the minute mark. Rundle said the key for this event was consistency which kept him close to the top spot.
The two drivers said they would “definitely be back”.
