The staff and children at Poonindie Early Childhood Centre created a Family Festival for their kindy families on Tuesday, April 11.
The festival was a celebration of the learning that occurred through play this term.
The children thought about an activity they wanted to do with their family at the festival, then worked with a staff member to plan what they would need and where they thought was the best place for their play to happen.
The children have been producing art works for the festival which were proudly displayed in a gallery on the deck for the audience to enjoy.
The literacy focus this term was “I use language to connect with my world” so staff have been integrating play based experiences throughout the kindergarten to develop this indicator with each child.
Children and families also got to have superhero photos taken at the photo booth, got involved in a Mini Moves session with Cherie Doudle and were provided with a family festival show bag, which they were encouraged to fill with various community support service information and Easter treats.
Everyone then enjoyed some delicious afternoon tea together.
The staff thanked Kerry Moxey K2M Candles, Cherie Doudle, Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health, Centre Care and the families who attended.
