The 2017 SALT Festival has officially begun and what better way to start than in the salt water, getting salty.
The first event began with the Moana Paddling “Breath of Life” along the Port Lincoln foreshore.
Participants took their stand up paddle boards to start their day in connection, wellness and honouring.
Moana paddling leader Ngahuia Trewartha said the morning was about connection to the ocean.
“Our ritual for the next 10 days is to meet at a quarter past seven and we’re going to be paddling along along the foreshore here together in a group with beautiful people.
“And today’s principle is ‘Makia’ which is energy flows where tension goes to be focused,” she said.
Tonight will be the official opening of the SALT Festival from 5.30pm at the festival’s SALT Shaker hub, next to the Ming Inn.
The launch will include exhibitions of art by Jeff Bridges, SA Rips, Thomas Tesselaar and digital art by Ego.
The SALT Shaker hub will be open as a venue for the duration of the festival.
