PLANS for a 6000-square metre open space reserve at the marina, including a barbecue area and walking and cycling links to the Parnkalla Trail, are well underway.

Port Lincoln Proper Pty Ltd, owned by the Lukin family, is hoping to start construction of the reserve at the Lincoln Cove East development later this year.

Dean Lukin, who is project-managing the development on behalf of his family, said the reserve would be like nothing ever constructed by a developer before in Port Lincoln.

“Construction of the stage one and two civil works is now complete and I am really pleased with how the land development is turning out.

“Stage three and the open space reserve area in particular will step it up to another level,” he said.

Mr Lukin said the company had been working with the Port Lincoln City Council on the reserve, which would be completed in three stages and timed with the ongoing staging of the residential development.

The reserve will incorporate 3400 square metres of lawn, to be irrigated through the council’s recycled water scheme, a children’s playground incorporating nature play and a flying fox, and undercover barbecue and seating.

Mr Lukin said the company expected construction to start within six months and be finished within 18 months.

“I am expecting once the open space reserve gets underway...interest in the remaining lots will increase and we expect to move on to the second and third release of stage three quite quickly.”
