Port Lincoln Netball Association showed its support once again for Donate Life with its round of matches last weekend.

Once a year the association dedicates a day to Donate Life, who have been sponsors for about three years.

On the day the association handed out free Donate Life merchandise as well as some games having pink goal post pads and pink balls.

Donate Life works with the Organ and Tissue Authority to help improve organ and tissue donation and transplantation outcomes across Australia.

Administration officer Kate Heading said the association believed it was a great cause to get behind and was appreciative for Donate Life’s sponsorship.

“The more people they can get to go on the organ donor list the better,” she said.

“It starts conversations that there are steps and to go to the website to find out more.”

Last year there were 1447 Australians who received organ transplants thanks to the donations from 503 donors and their families, who agreed to the donation at the time of their loved one’s death.

The association hopes to see more people find out more about organ donation and take the necessary steps to become one themselves.
