THE Port Lincoln City Council is a step closer to entering the world of Facebook after approving its social media policy last week.
The policy sets clear expectations for council representatives using social media as part of their role and for personal use.
The council’s corporate governance manager, Lynne Jolley said while planning and implementing the social media policy could be a “dry” process it was a valuable opportunity for the council to inform and engage with the community.
Councillor Andrea Broadfoot said she was excited about the council’s move to Facebook.
“I appreciate the time taken to set out the policy and the attention to detail and I look forward to seeing the page,” she said.
The council is expecting to do a soft launch of the Facebook page at the end of the month.
