Get out your lederhosen and get set for beer and sausages and sauerkraut, because Oktoberfest is coming to Port Lincoln on Sunday.

The local take on the traditional German event will be hosted by Beer Garden Brewing supported by some “oompah” tunes from the Port Lincoln City Band.

Beer Garden Brewing owner Janie Butterworth said holding an Oktoberfest event was something the business had always planned to do as she had fond memories of attending Oktoberfest in Melbourne.

“We want to set it up like a German beer hall,” she said.

Port Lincoln City Band alto saxophone player Ann Staunton said band members very excited to play at the German-themed event.

“We’ve spent the last 14 years trying to educate people that we don’t play oompah music but here we are.”

The event will begin at noon and customers will be treated to three of the Beer Garden Brewing’s German style beers as well as three styles of German sausage paired with traditional sauerkraut.
