Port Lincoln stabbing charge laid

Port Lincoln detectives have arrested and charged a man with attempted murder following an incident in Port Lincoln this week.

Police were called to the Coles supermarket complex on Liverpool Street just before 5.20pm on Tuesday after reports a woman had been stabbed in the hand by a man before he left the scene in a vehicle.

The victim, a 37-year-old Port Lincoln woman, was taken to the Port Lincoln Hospital and treated for her injuries before being released a short time later.

Police located the man’s car parked near the Port Lincoln Hotel and spoke to staff who confirmed the man was staying at the premises.

STAR group officers were notified and attended the scene after Port Lincoln police made attempts to contact the man in his room.

At 9.30pm STAR group officers entered the room and found the man unconscious, he was airlifted to Adelaide for treatment and remains in a stable condition.

The 68-year-old Urrbrae man was arrested and charged with attempted murder, he was refused bail and was due face a bedside hearing on Friday afternoon.
