Giddings wins bureau crop competition

David Giddings won the CW Foster Memorial Trophy in the Lake Wangary Agricultural Bureau’s annual wheat crop competition held recently.

The event was attended by 40 members, sponsors and visitors and eight crops were entered.

Early sown crops stood out as the season presented growers with challenges rarely seen.

Successful lentil and chickpea crops were also inspected.

At the end of the day Ramsey Bros of Cummins demonstrated a new Fendt 1050 Vario tractor of 517 horsepower, which drew considerable interest.

The winning growers were: David Giddings 5.1t/h Cobra variety; second Jarrod Doudle 4.7t/h Sceptre variety; third Simon Giddings 4.1t/h Trojan variety.

Thanks to the judges Dennis Pedler, George Pedler and David Foster.
