SUPPORT: Primary Producers SA chair Rob Kerin said South Australians should show their support for producers on National Agriculture Day.

South Australia’s commodity advocacy and research groups are urging people to show their support for South Australia’s agriculture industry for National Agriculture Day on November 21.

Primary Producers SA is joining Grain Producers SA, Livestock SA, SA Dairyfarmers Association and South Australian Grain Industry Trust to encourage South Australians to show their support to those who produce food within the state.

Primary Producers SA executive chair Rob Kerin said as a major employer in South Australia, agriculture should be acknowledged as the engine room of the state’s economy.

He said agriculture involves a lot of different producers, whether they are involved in livestock, cropping, viticulture or aquaculture among others.

“This industry is the backbone of the South Australian economy and the key to our future,” he said.

“National Agriculture Day provides us an opportunity to thank our food producers and to encourage a new generation to consider joining this exciting industry.”

Mr Kerin said people could show their support by going on social media to share why they are involved in the industry or thank someone in the industry with hashtags including #AgDay, #thankafarmer or #AusAg.

He said people should also choose Australian, especially South Australian, produce.
