FORMER local Lachlan McFarlane, son of Scott and Racheal McFarlane, was selected to play in the Wanderers Junior AFL Football International Rules Tour to the UK and Ireland.
When he lived in Port Lincoln, Lachlan played for Boston and he continued his love for football when the family moved to Katherine about five years ago.
The tour, which departed on November 28, takes players firstly to London to play local Gaelic junior representative teams from England under international rules.
The footballers then travel to Dublin to tour the city, play a local club, and visit the home of Gaelic games, Croke Park.
The boys then play a tour around southern Ireland playing against local schools and clubs in Gaelic football and the Hybrid game.
Lachlan’s grandmother Maxine McFarlane said Lachlan “absolutely loved” football.
She said as well as playing international rules, Lachlan would also get the opportunity to sight-see overseas which was “a great opportunity” for a 16-year-old.
