Money for more CCTV cameras

MORE CCTV cameras will be installed in Port Lincoln with $32,000 in funding the Port Lincoln City Council received through round one of the Safer Communities Fund.

The grant money will be used to upgrade four existing cameras and install three new cameras with wireless capabilities in the CBD and foreshore area.

Port Lincoln City Council mayor Bruce Green said the new upgrades would ensure accurate vision in real-time and also recorded footage.

Not only will the cameras provide real-time accurate vision but will also help deter street crime, violence and anti-social behaviour.

“Having community members and visitors feel safe when they come into the CBD or to enjoy our foreshore is a key issue for the council,” Mr Green said.

“Not only will the cameras provide real-time accurate vision but will also help deter street crime, violence and anti-social behaviour”.

The Australian Government has committed $40 million to the Safer Communities Fund over the next four years to help local Council’s and community organisations to address crime and anti-social behaviour by funding community safety initiatives.
