Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Service Inc

Aboriginal Health Worker – Fulltime

PLAHS Employees Enterprise Agreement 2019, Health Worker (negotiated according to qualifications/experience)

Pursuant to Section 92 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 an exemption is granted from the provision of S 52 (1) and S 103 of the Act to advertise this position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons only.

A full-time ongoing position is available in this Aboriginal community-controlled Health Service for an Aboriginal Health Worker in the Clinical Team.

The successful applicant will:

  • want to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the Aboriginal community
  • contribute to the efficient delivery of clinical primary health care services
  • work with other health professionals in a multi-disciplinary health care approach
  • deliver culturally appropriate health education programs to the Aboriginal community
  • effectively utilise and maintain information systems such as Microsoft Office products, Communicare data entry and other required records
  • participate in quality assurance programs to ensure safe and effective health care

 Position requirements include:

  • a current Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice and/or other relevant qualifications
  • reliability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • effective communication skills with a wide range of people and organisations
  • sound IT competence in use of Microsoft Office products and data entry programs
  • knowledge of relevant local resources and organisations
  • ability to maintain strict confidentiality and uphold privacy principles
  • a current full, unrestricted driver's licence, a satisfactory Working with Children Check (WWCC), an Aged Care related DCSI Criminal History Check, a National Police Certificate and compliance with PLAHS' immunisation requirements to be provided prior to commencement
