The City of Port Lincoln is seeking on the hunt for a Community Safety Team Leader. In this hands-on role, the successful applicant will support the Manager Development and Regulatory, by overseeing the operational activities of the Community Safety team, ensuring achievement of organisational and legislative standards and requirements. This includes the provision of animal management (dogs and cats) services, local laws and regulatory enforcement, car parking and the provision of seasonal fire prevention activities and planning.

  • Providing effective and efficient leadership support to the team, including coaching and development to build knowledge, experience and capability.
  • Actively supporting the legislative responsibilities and functions of the Community Safety
  • Ensuring accurate, timely and customer-centric services are provided to the community.
  • Acting as a Fire Prevention Officer (in the absence of a qualified team member).
  • Providing advice to the Manager Development and Regulatory and Council regarding budget and annual business planning for the Community Safety team.
  • Proactive resolution of issues and complaints, and supporting team members in dealing with situations involving difficult or aggressive customers.
  • Establishing, maintaining and reporting on programs and projects.

This is what you’ll have in your personal toolkit:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position, including experience in leading, coaching and supporting the development of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with difficult situations and incidents of customer aggression.
  • Proven track record managing workflow, service standards, resource allocation and competing work priorities.
  • Communication and management approach suited to a regulatory environment.
  • Highly effective judgement, analysis and decision making skills in a complex work environment.
  • Sound decision making.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Advanced written and verbal reporting skills.
  • Understanding of budgets, to be able to assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
